Dawn’s Early Light

February 16th, 2018 —

Just a quick set of pictures to show off Atmau’s mid-winter beauty.  Dawn comes at 9am; dusk at 6:30.  It’s a 9 1/2 hour day with the long side in the afternoon and early evening.  Civil Twilight adds another half our or so.  Pre-dawn begins at 8:41 and dusk ends at 7:25.   So we’re basically almost at an 11 hour day.

Compared to Northfield and other towns tucked in among hills and mountains, I’d say we’ve got a longer day despite the difference in latitude.

How about a comment to let me know when light hits your eyes and disappears over the hills back in the greater Northfield area?  I’m curious how much light I’m missing or gaining between Vermont and Alaska.

Sunrise Sunset Feb 15 2018 day is done

  1. We have just begun to get at least a half hour length of daylight. with nearly 2 weeks left in February. it has been gray today but near 40 most of it. we have a lot of dirt showing on banks etc. but so much ice as of late. keeps us from getting out there. with age keeping us smarter not to wonder out so much, not worth the fall.we’re counting all our blessings and we have many. the adopted baby boy just turned 3 months old. that keeps your heart warm with love. for sure, Your dad used to stop with his old car, and Bob enjoyed chatting with him. take care

    1. Sorry Nate, I have no idea what time the day starts in little Northfield. I stay in bed and miss it.
I know the train comes thru about 3:30 pm and the snow plow at all hours, also before i’m up and interested in moving my car. He plows around the cars and returns later when I haul out and move the darn thing. It is staying light later and this evening I saw pleasantly pink clouds about 5:30 pm. Your sun pictures are more interesting than anything here. thank you for showing us.
